Christina Sanchez is qualified and ready to become the next El Paso COUNTY Attorney

Christina is passionate about El Paso. She has a track record of SERVICE, ACCOUNTABILITY, and ETHICAL LEADERSHIP and is well-respected in the community.

A Lifetime of Public Service

Public service has been a part of Christina Sanchez’s life from day one. Christina’s father proudly served in the United States Air Force and continued serving our country as a civilian employee at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. Her mother worked for the Ysleta Independent School District for nearly 35 years. The values instilled by her parents to give back to the community inspired Christina to become one of the first in her family to graduate from college and the first in her family to graduate from law school.

While attending The George Washington University in Washington D.C., Christina served as an intern for the Honorable Silvestre Reyes and later in the Federal Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Following graduation, Christina moved to Los Angeles and worked for the National Association of Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) before entering law school.  While attending the Texas Tech University School of Law in Lubbock, Christina enhanced her studies by clerking with local attorneys, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and the El Paso County Attorney’s Office, where she met, and was later hired by the Honorable José Rodríguez.

In her 15 years serving with the Office of the El Paso County Attorney, Ms. Sanchez has provided steadfast counsel in many of the areas that the County Attorney practices, including juvenile prosecution, civil litigation defense, and general counsel. Some of her most notable work includes working to provide water and wastewater services in the colonias of East El Paso, and providing legal counsel to the County during the COVID 19 pandemic. In her current role and under the direction of the Honorable Jo Anne Bernal, Christina serves as the primary legal advisor to the El Paso County Commissioners Court.

Christina serves on the board of Project Bravo and is a past president of the El Paso Women’s Bar Association, where she remains an active member. Familiar with the local political landscape, Christina successfully campaigned for a seat on the El Paso Community College Board of Trustees, where she currently serves as the Trustee for District 4 and as Board Secretary. She is proud of her work on the Community College Board and has had a role in crafting and implementing educational policy initiatives. Her legal experience in election law was instrumental in leading efforts to create the first-ever citizen-led redistricting committee for the College in 2022. Her honors include being named the El Paso County Attorney’s Office Attorney of the Year in 2008, the El Paso Bar Government Lawyer of the year in 2020, as well as numerous speaking engagements in the area of government law.

Continuing in her tradition of public service Christina instills in her children the importance of public service and giving back to the community.
